I believe an opportunity exists that
will allow people to get a better idea of the sizes of shoes they order online.
It can be difficult to shop for any clothing item online because it is
difficult to know if something will fit or not. This issue is something that I
ran into recently when ordering shoes online and when looking at product reviews
to determine how a shoe would fit, saw other people experiencing the same
issue. As the market for online shopping has grown over the past decade, more
and more people are ordering shoes online and experiencing this common issue.
In stores, of course, it is easy to try them on before buying, and some solutions
such as amazon’s order 3 return 2 policy, though a hassle, have been created to
make the process easier. I am, say, 60% sure this is an opportunity that exists
from what I have seen online in reviews and while going through the process.
My original
opportunity mostly still stands as is and is a common enough problem that
someone might face. I do think I may have overestimated how many people buy
shoes online currently, I interviewed family who I know have bought clothes online
before. One of them brought up that the market for online shoe shopping may not
be as large as I expect. From what I have learned it might be a good idea to
address the issue of finding shoes that fit well as a more general problem or
at least present it that way, but I am still not sure if or how I would broaden
the framing of the opportunity. Adapting to customer feedback is important, if potential
customers are uninterested in the product or service then then that probably
means the opportunity needs to be adjusted. I do think that a sample size of 3 customers
is not necessarily large enough to get a solid response, I think the customer
reviews I have seen may be a more telling sign that the opportunity exists for
a solution.
Hello! I enjoyed reading this, considering the fact that I've experienced this before a few times. I think that an interesting question to ask customers is what websites in particular they have had this issue with. That way, there's an opportunity to meet more potential customers going through the same thing, thus giving you the large sample size you need. Overall, good job!
ReplyDeleteHi Justin,
ReplyDeleteI think the opportunity you chose is really good! I have experienced this pretty much every time I have ordered shoes online, and I definitely would benefit as a customer from come kind of service that made sizing easier. I agree that 3 customers is not a big enough sample size, but I think the feedback you got to broaden your market was good! Maybe you could include clothes sizing in the service, which would definitely open up your market to more consumers. Good job!
