Assignment 2 - Bug List

1.       The construction across the street from my apartment is loud in the morning
-          It is cooler in the mornings, so it makes sense for construction to start early.
2.       The shower nozzle goes in my apartment is too low on the wall for me to stand under it while standing straight.
-          People being taller than 6’ was not considered when they built the bathroom.
3.       Having a pencil run out of eraser before being even close to used up.
-          Maybe having a longer eraser could cause result in erasers falling off more easily
4.       Trying to get food in downtown Gainesville (under normal circumstances) on the weekend requires a long wait.
-          There are a lot of people trying to eat downtown especially on weekends, so they all tend to be very busy.
5.       The blinds next to my bed do not entirely block out the sun in the morning.
-          The blinds are not very wide so light comes through in many small strips.
6.       The laundry machines for my apartment complex only takes quarters.
-          It is probably cheaper to maintain a coin only laundry facility when on a small scale.
7.       People parking cars to pick people up or drop people off on the middle of a crosswalk.
-          Difficult to discourage and a usually a convenient drop up/pick up spot.
8.       My aluminum water bottle is difficult to clean well because pieces of it need to be cleaned separately
-          The straw and mouthpiece to the bottle make it hard to spill though more difficult to clean
9.       Street noise is not well kept out by the walls of my apartment.
-          The walls of the apartment are old and very thick.
10.   My phone charger port can sometimes not make good contact with the charging cable.
-          The charging port can be damaged easily and is difficult to repair.
11.   The mouse I use for my desktop PC occasionally registers 2 mouse clicks for one physical click.
-          The switches that are used in the mouse were not built well enough to last more than ~2 years.
12.   PC Keyboards tend to get crumbs and other particles under the keys that are difficult to remove.
-          Keys are difficult to remove on most keyboards because they need to stay on.
13.   It is difficult to order shoes online that will fit.
-          Shoes are extremely varied in both size and shaping of the sole.
14.   Pillows lose their cushiness after some time and do not tend to return to the original level.
-          Certain materials used for pillows are more difficult to fluff back up.
15.   Social media can be extremely distracting and prevent me from being productive.
-          It is addicting to an extent and is made with that as a goal.
16.    Driving or being a passenger can be scary because other drivers are unpredictable and sometimes reckless.
-          A lot of drivers are not taught how to drive well for a variety of reasons so they learn from experience without guidance.
17.   It would be difficult to cheaply know that my apartment is not broken into when out of town.
-          Monitoring using security camera would be expensive relative to the rest of my belongings.
18.   Audio levels on different application can vary drastically, leading to some sounds being difficult to hear at first or overly loud.
-          There is no way for the other programs to know the relative audio levels of each other.
19.   One of the air conditioning units in my apartment will run constantly regardless of the interior temperature.
-          It should have a thermometer to recognize what temperature it is, though it might just be broken.
20.   I have left my oven running for a few hours without noticing before.
-          The light indicator for the oven being on is difficult to see because it is indicated through a hole in the panel of the oven with a light that is not centered with the hole.

Reflection:
Trying to do this assignment made me realize just how many problems I frequently encounter that I never give much thought to. I am very willing to just ignore things that bug me and put up with them rather than looking for a solution. Trying to come up with bugs reminded me of an assignment I did for another class where I had to do a certain form of artistic expression once a day for 2 weeks. For that assignment I wrote poetry and found it was much easier to find unique topics to write about when I was consciously looking for them throughout the day.
